Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has urged the people to accept the temporary difficulties in controlling the coronavirus (Covid-19) infection which started on Thursday (July 1). He said the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has decided to impose a strict lockdown on the advice of experts to protect the people as the corona infection has reached a high risk.

Obaidul Quader said this at a regular briefing at his official residence on Thursday.

The General Secretary of the Awami League called upon the private and voluntary organizations and the able-bodied to come forward along with the government's initiatives for the helpless and unemployed people.

Mentioning that the Prime Minister has been leading efficiently in various disasters and crises in the country, Obaidul Quader said his decision is dedicated to the welfare of the people.

The Awami League general secretary said there were hundreds of deaths and high levels of infection in Corona in the last few days, adding that there was no alternative but to follow the highest degree of awareness and caution.

Obaidul Quader said, "We have to go through difficult times as a nation in the past." I will pass this difficult test under the humane and efficient leadership of Sheikh Hasina, InshaAllah.

The general secretary of the Awami League expressed hope that the darkness will end and good days will come. But before that, we have to build a fortress of caution in every house. The general secretary of the Awami League called upon all to face the second wave of corona through health awareness inspired by the mantra of unity.

Obaidul Quader said, this lockdown is an unavoidable need to protect life.

Obaidul Quader said that many helpless and hardworking people are in crisis due to the lockdown, but the government is giving enough importance to this issue.

Quader urged the concerned authorities and party leaders to give enough importance so that the low-income and floating people are not left out in any way while distributing relief items.

He said that if necessary, relief materials should be delivered from door to door. Obaidul Quader called upon the leaders and workers to make the people aware through the campaign to ensure 100% wearing of masks.

Commenting that Corona does not give concessions to anyone and does not mean any classification, the General Secretary of Awami League also called upon all to unite to deal with Corona irrespective of party affiliation.

Referring to the attack on the Holy Artisan Restaurant in Gulshan on this day in 2016 as an evil wound created by the extremists against the non-communal spirit of the Great Liberation War, Obaidul Quader said,

He said communal extremism has become a poison in the development drive of the country. Obaidul Quader thinks that maybe they are secretly increasing their power from the bottom up, their silence could be another terrible sign. However, law enforcement agencies are alert in this regard.

Obaidul Quader claimed that a unity has been formed among the people of the country against extremism, and social resistance in different places is proof of that.

The General Secretary of the Awami League said, "Our pledge is to establish a science-minded modern state and the golden Bengal of Bangabandhu's dream through the eradication of communalism under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu." The Awami League is moving forward with the people of the country to implement this promise.
