In Habiganj, mother and daughter were strangled to death for money and gold

News Desk: A mother and her eight-year-old daughter were strangled to death in Habiganj's Bahubale for two lakh rupees, mobile phones, and gold ornaments. Habiganj Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ullah said this at a press conference on Saturday (March 20) at 8 pm. Earlier on Saturday afternoon, Habiganj Judicial Magistrate Tahmina Haque gave a confessional statement under Section 164 in the court of the main killer Amir Hossain (30).

Anjali Das's husband Sanjit Das filed a case with the Bahubal Police Station on Friday night accusing the unidentified persons. Police unraveled the mystery within two days of the gruesome murder. Amir Ali and his accomplice Monir Mia were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident.

The arrested Amir Ullah is the son of Alamgir Mia of Chowkidighi area of ​​Shahparan police station in Sylhet. According to his confession, another man named Monir Mia was arrested on charges of involvement in the murder. According to the information given by them, the knife used in the murder, mobile phone, and some money were recovered from the pond. Citing their confessions, the superintendent of police said Sanjit Das, 45, and Amir Hossain, residents of Digambar Bazar area of ​​Bahubal Upazila, were formerly known. About three months ago, Amir Hossain rented a house nearby through Sanjit Das.

A few days ago, Amir Hossain came to Sanjit's house and borrowed three thousand rupees and found out that they had another two lakh rupees and a gold bracelet in their house. On March 16, Sanjit left his wife Anjali Malakar (30) and daughter Pooja Rani Das (8) at home and went to Sunamganj on business. On that day, Amir came with his two accomplices to steal money and gold ornaments as the mother and daughter were alone at home.

At one stage, he killed his mother and daughter by cutting their throats. After the killing, they left their used knife in a pond and left the scene. Later, Amir Hossain himself cut off his hand and pretended to be unconscious, and fell on the surrounding land.

He wants to convince people that the robbers killed the two. The locals then admitted him to Habiganj 250-bed modern district Sadar Hospital. The SP further said that Amir Hossain was detained from the hospital on suspicion by the police. Monir was arrested as he said. Another accused is absconding.

Attempts are being made to arrest him. Officer-in-charge of Bahubal Model Police Station Mohammad Kamruzzaman said two accused have been arrested in the incident. Among them, Amir Ali has given a confessional statement under section 164 in the court. Police are also trying to arrest another accused.
