Medical camp in the guise of MBBS doctor, imprisonment of three people including women

News Desk: A mobile court has sentenced three people, including a fake female doctor, to one month in jail on charges of cheating in the name of an MBBS doctor at a medical camp in Kishoreganj.

A mobile court headed by Executive Magistrate Sagufta Haque on Saturday (March 20th) afternoon arrested people for taking money from people in the name of health check-up at Ashtabarg village in Latibabad union of Kishoreganj Sadar Upazila.

The convicts are: Maria Ferdousi (28), wife of Naim Sarkar of Titas sub-district of Comilla, and Md. Ramzan (21) and Mehedi Hasan (18), son of Habibur Rahman of Raipura sub-district of Narsingdi. According to the mobile court sources, Holistic Health Care Ltd. for 15 days.

Maria Ferdousi, along with two associates in different areas including Rashidabad and Latibabad of Sadar Upazila, was cheating people in the name of a free medical camp under the banner of an organization. While running the medical camp, Maria Ferdousi introduced herself as an MBBS doctor. On Saturday, a woman was sitting at the house of a UP member in Ashtabarg village of Sadar upazila's Latibabad union and was collecting Tk 300 in the name of 'medical checkup'.

Upon receiving the news, a mobile court team led by Kishoreganj Executive Magistrate Sagufta Haque arrived at the spot and arrested them. Each of them was later sentenced to one month in prison.

According to Executive Magistrate Sagufta Haque, they have been convicted under Section 29 of the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Act 2010 for cheating doctors. Kishoreganj Civil Surgeon said. Md. Habibur Rahman said that the woman was giving allopathic treatment even though she claimed to be an Unani doctor.

He was taking money by doing full body checkup through a laptop and a small device. He also said that the woman's Unani certificate has been sent to the ministry for examination.
