News Desk: Former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon has issued a strong warning, saying that by prolonging the ongoing wars in Gaza and Lebanon, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government are pushing the country toward a severe danger.
Describing several decisions of the current Israeli government as “misguided,” he said that the entire country is paying a high price for what he called political recklessness.
In an interview with Israeli media outlet Channel 12, the former senior military official strongly criticized the current administration. He said that the government should have engaged in diplomatic negotiations with Lebanon since October 2024. Instead, he alleged that the war is being unnecessarily prolonged to serve “personal and political party interests,” resulting in the continued loss of Israeli soldiers’ lives.
Moshe Ya’alon further accused Netanyahu of keeping the war going as a desperate attempt to maintain his far-right coalition government. Warning that the ongoing conflict is harming Israel’s very existence, he said the country is rapidly moving toward another election.
However, he cautioned that if the same instability and policies of the current government continue even after the election, Israel as a state could eventually face the risk of disappearing permanently.
