Police have arrested Raziya Begum, director of Swapnanibas Hostel in Dhaka, for physically and mentally assaulting a female student of Shamsunnahar Hall for the 2024-25 academic year and confining her in a room.
The incident occurred at Swapnanibas Hostel, located near Tejgaon College, on Tuesday (7 October) at around 10 PM.
According to sources, when a guest came to meet the student, Raziya Begum demanded an additional 1,000 Taka. When the student could not pay, she was beaten and locked in her room, causing her to lose consciousness. The hostel director even prevented her from being taken to a hospital.
