UGC Appoints Nazrul University Vice-Chancellor as Member

Nazrul University Correspondent: Professor Dr. Md Jahangir Alam, Vice-Chancellor of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU), has been appointed as a part-time member of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh.

UGC Secretary Dr. Md Fakhrul Islam formally informed the Vice-Chancellor of the appointment through a letter signed on September 30, 2025.

According to the Bangladesh University Grants Commission Order, 1973 (President’s Order No. 10 of 1973), sections 4(1)(c) and 4(4), the appointment will remain effective for two years, starting from October 5, 2025.

In the letter, the UGC authorities congratulated Professor Dr. Jahangir Alam and expressed their expectation for his valuable guidance and active cooperation in the commission’s activities.

Expressing gratitude for the nomination, Professor Dr. Jahangir Alam thanked the UGC for the honor and reaffirmed his commitment to contributing to higher education development in Bangladesh.

Members of the Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University community have expressed joy and pride over the appointment, hoping that it will further strengthen the university’s role and visibility in national academic advancement.
