Saraswati Puja today

News Desk: Saraswati Puja, one of the religious festivals of the Hindu community, is on Tuesday. On today's fifth day, innumerable devotees will lay wreaths at the feet of Goddess Saraswati, the possessor of knowledge and wisdom. They will prostrate at the feet of the benevolent goddess to remove the darkness of ignorance.

According to the followers of traditional religions, Goddess Saraswati is the symbol of truth, justice and enlightenment. Possessor of knowledge, words and melody. To remove the darkness of ignorance, at the feet of the benevolent goddess, they will recite the mantra ‘Saraswati Mahabhage Vidya Kamallochane / Vishwaroop Bishalakshi Vidyangdehi Namostute’ and will bow down to acquire knowledge and wisdom. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given a message on the occasion of Saraswati Puja.

He greeted and congratulated the Hindu community. On the other hand, President Md. Abdul Hamid in a message on the occasion of Saraswati Puja called upon all to contribute from their respective places to further strengthen the existing communal harmony in the country.

In a separate statement, Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council President Prof Nimchandra Bhowmik, Ushatan Talukder and Nirmal Rosario, General Secretary Advocate Rana Dasgupta, Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad President Milon Kanti Dutta, General Secretary Nirmal Kumar Chatterjee, Mahanagar Secretary Kishore Ranjan Mandal, Pankaj Saha, President of Student Youth Unity Council, Robert Nixon Ghosh and Rahut Barua and General Secretary Barrister Taposh Bal greeted the people of the country including the Hindu community.

This time the puja is being organized on a limited scale and in accordance with proper hygiene rules. There is no other formality outside the formality of worship. Fairs, cultural events, arti and religious discussion meetings or public gatherings will be avoided.

On the other hand, due to Corona, worship is not being organized in the educational institutions this time.

However, other temples, puja mandapas or devotees' houses are being arranged for worship. Special programs will be aired on various TV channels and special articles will be published in newspapers. Worship programs in temples and puja mandals all over the country, including the capital, include puja-archana, wreath-laying, distribution of prasad, etc. A puja has been organized at the central puja mandapa of Dhakeswari National Temple, Melangan on the initiative of the Metropolitan Public Worship Committee.

Idols will be installed here at 8 am, puja at 8 am, wreath-laying at 9:30 am and prasad will be distributed at 12 noon. There are similar programs in Ramakrishna Mission and Math Pujamandap. Worship will be celebrated in Ramna Kali Mandir and Ma Anandamoyi Ashram, ISKCON Mandir, Mirpur Kendriya Mandir, Ramsita Mandir and other temples and mandapas in the capital.

Apart from offering puja and wreaths at these mandapas from 8 am to 11 am, prasad will be distributed. Puja will be organized on the premises of Rajdhani High School on the initiative of Jatiya Sangsad. In addition to morning worship, there are discussion meetings in the evening. Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury will inaugurate the festival.

Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Vikram Doraiswamy will attend the morning puja. Meanwhile, traditional and stylish Saraswati Puja is organized every year in other halls of Dhaka University including Jagannath Hall, but this time it is completely closed due to corona situation. Worship is not being done in Jagannath University and other important educational institutions of the capital.
