News Desk: Retirement leave (PRL) of government employees is often confused. The finance department has issued a new notification to remove the confusion. A notification in this regard was issued on Sunday (February 14) signed by Khaleda Nasreen, Senior Assistant Secretary, Regulation Division, Finance Department.

Government employees usually go on Retirement Preparatory Leave (LPR) one year before retirement. They retire after the LPR is over. This retirement is called Retirement Leave (PRL). However, some people go to PRL while they are in LPR, in which case there is confusion about pension, financial benefits, retirement date, LPR start date and final retirement start date.

The notification said that if LPR is converted to PRL, PRL will not be counted as a pensionable job. However, the facilities that the government employee is entitled to while in LPR will remain in force even if he goes to PRL. Citing an example, the notification said, "Mr. will reach the age of 31 December 2020 and he will retire in the afternoon of that day."

Subject to leave, the PRL of ‘A’ will start the day after retirement, i.e. from January 1, 2021. If A enjoys 12 months of PRL, his leave will end on December 31, 2021 and his final retirement date will be January 1, 2022. However, if you do not enjoy the PRL, the final retirement date of 'A' will be 31 December 2020.
