News Desk: Due to the fog, the work of installing the last span of the much talked about mega project Padma Bridge '2-F' may be disrupted. The 41st span is scheduled to be installed on pillars 12 and 13 tomorrow, Thursday (December 10). However, due to the ongoing dense fog, there may be some disruption during the span shift. The work of placing the span may be delayed.

Dewan Abdul Quader, executive engineer and project manager (main bridge) of the Padma Bridge, said it takes two days to install each span. And that's how the schedule is done.

The last span of the bridge is scheduled for December 10. Work is going on in that proportion. However, the work that was supposed to start from this morning is not possible due to fog.

Plenty of fog density in the river. So there are some manipulations during the span transfer work with security.

He added that the idea is that there will be no fog after noon. So the work of shifting the span may start around 2 pm today. The last 41st span is 100% ready at Mawa Construction Yard. From here the floating crane ‘Tian-e’ with a capacity of 3600 tons will depart for the specific pillar with the span.

If all goes well, the last span ‘2-F’ will sit tomorrow. Otherwise, the day after tomorrow, December 11, the span will be installed. And through this, 6.15 km of infrastructure of the bridge will be visible which will be completely connected from Mawa to Jajira i.e. South Bengal.

Note that the construction of the bridge started in December 2014. The first span was placed on September 30, 2016 on Pillars No. 37 and 38. However, the interval from the first span to the 39th span was over 3 years.

The main shape of this multipurpose bridge, which is 6.15 km long, will be two-storied. The structure of Padma bridge is being constructed with concrete and steel. Vehicles will run on the upper part of the bridge and trains on the lower part.

China Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC), a Chinese contractor, is working on the construction of the main bridge, and Sino Hydro Corporation, another company in the country, is working on river governance.
