Jail sentence and fine of 2 people in Kaliganj

Gazipur Representative: Due to the violation of electoral conduct rules in upazila parishad elections in Kaliganj of Gazipur. One named Swaib (21) was sentenced to two days of fasting and one named Suman (21) was sentenced to 3 months imprisonment under the Narcotics Control Act.

On Wednesday (May 8) for violating Section 31 of the Upazila Parishad Election Conduct Rules 2016, according to Section 32(1) Swaib was sentenced to two days of unpaid work by the traveling court executive magistrate Wahida Shabab.

On the other hand, Executive Magistrate and Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Noori imposed a fine of Tk 100 and three months' imprisonment on Sumon in a case as per serial no. Tasmin Urmi. In addition, under section 66 of the Road Transport Act 2018, Ashikur Rahman was fined Tk 2,000 and Uppal Sarkar was fined Tk 5,000 in two cases.

The sentenced is the son of Md. Sattar Fakir of Ishwarpur village of Bahadursadi union of Shoaib upazila and Suman is the son of Lokman of Chandaiya village of Kaliganj municipal area. On the other hand, the convict Ashiq Bahadursadi is the son of Jaman Mia of Betua village in Union and Utpal is the son of deceased Bimal Mandal of Baligaon village in Kaliganj town area.
