News Desk:  The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has announced that the SSC and equivalent exams will be conducted in 2026 in a new format. That year the exam will be conducted only on the 10th class syllabus. However, the examination procedure has not yet been finalised.

Teachers, students and parents are worried about this. The top officials of the education boards themselves are also in the dark. Even the question paper makers and examiners who will be responsible for evaluating the answer papers, what kind of training they will get is under discussion.

The education board says that NCTB will decide how the exam pattern, syllabus will be. Once they get the final structure, training will be given to the test takers including question paper makers and examiners.

Inter Education Board Coordinating Committee President and Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Chairman Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar said, 'We will start preparations once the NCTB structure is finalized. The examiners should be trained to get used to the new system. The 11 education boards will do this on their own initiative.'

Sifatul Islam is a ninth grade student of the Government Science High School in the capital. Although the son is very attentive in his studies in the new curriculum, mother Shahanara Khatun is not worried. On Saturday night, he told Jago News, 'He (son Sifatul) came and said that it is good to study in the new rules. This rule seems to be good. But SSC exam will be held in 2026. Then the current rules will not exist. My son's father and I are very worried about how the test will be, how will the result be. Other parents also discuss this with us every day.'

The guardian Shahnara Akhtar also commented that whatever is the examination or evaluation method, it should be finalized and disclosed quickly. Selina Khatun, the mother of Azim Uddin, a ninth grade student of the main branch of Motijheel Ideal School and College, also wants to know the new rules clearly in advance.

Selina Khatun told Jago News, 'The government is fixing the rules, we have accepted them. But we will be worry free if we know quickly how the rule will be. That is how teachers will teach our children. We will guide in the same way.'

When asked, NCTB chairman Professor Farhadul Islam said, 'We have prepared the draft model of the new SSC exam. It has been presented before Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury. The minister has given instructions to discuss with the education boards.

He also said, 'We will sit with the boards from March. Their views will be sought after presenting the draft model. If all goes well it will be finalised.'

It is known that a new curriculum has been introduced in ninth grade this year. In 2025, they will study in the new curriculum in class 10. After that, in the SSC examination of 2026, only 10 subjects of class 10 will be assessed or participated in the examination.

According to the outline of 'National Curriculum 2021' - 50 percent of each subject will be through learning assessment and 50 percent through summative assessment or examination in the new curriculum.
