Arrested on charges of raping a child in Tentulia 1

Al Masud, Panchagarh: A man named Omar Ali (45) has been arrested by the police on the charge of attempted rape of a child (7) in Tentulia upazila. On Monday (September 12) afternoon, he was arrested in the case and sent to the district jail through the court. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tentulia Model Police Station Abu Saeed Chowdhury confirmed the matter. It is known that the accused rapist Omar Ali is the son of deceased Haider Ali of Sumarpara village of Kakina union of Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat district. He currently resided in Siddiknagar, Tentulia. He is a van driver by profession. According to police and family sources, the child went to Siddiknagar area with his mother and sister in the morning after hearing about his grandmother's illness. Sandhay (8) along with her elder sister was playing with the accused's daughter at Omar Ali's house. At one point, Omar Ali sent his daughter and her elder sister out of the house for other work. In between, he tried to rape the victim by finding her alone. Once the victim screamed and ran to his mother at home and told everything. After this, the family of the child informed the local UP chairman about the matter and filed a case against Omar Ali under the Women and Child Abuse Act at Tentulia Model Police Station. Meanwhile, immediately after the complaint, Omar Ali was arrested by the police from his house in Siddiknagar village of Tentulia Sadar Union on Sunday (September 11) night.
