Javed Iqbal Chowdhury, Cox's Bazar: The court rejected the bail application of seven members of the District Intelligence Police (DB) who were expelled from Teknaf for kidnapping and extorting a ransom. After two days of arguments, they were ordered to be sent to jail on Monday, September 5. At the same time, September 20 has been fixed for the verdict of the case. Judge Mohammad Ismail of Cox's Bazar District Sessions and Judges Court announced the order on Monday (September 5) afternoon. PP advocate Faridul Alam of the state party said that on October 24, 2017, persons wearing white clothes in the identity of DB police took Teknaf businessman Abdul Ghafoor in a microbus from the road behind the police station in Cox's Bazar city. After that, he demanded a ransom of one crore rupees from his relatives, threatening to kill him in 'crossfire'. After the court, the family agreed to pay 17 lakhs. After the money was delivered, Abdul Ghafoor was released at Shamlapur on the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive road in the early hours of October 25. Later, Gafur's relatives told the officer of the security post of the army. After that, the soldiers of the post on the Marine Drive road searched the microbus of the DB policemen who collected the ransom and got Tk 17 lakh. At that time, DB Deputy Inspector (SI) Moniruzzaman ran away, but the remaining six were arrested from the spot by army personnel. PP Advocate Faridul Alam said that in this incident, businessman Abdul Ghafoor filed a case against DB Police Deputy Inspector (SI) Moniruzzaman and Abul Kalam Azad, ASI Feroze, Golam Mostafa and Alauddin and two constables Al Amin and Mostafa Azam as defendants. About 10 months after the incident, in the first week of August 2018, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) filed a charge sheet in the court against seven members of the DB.
