News Desk: Former Awami League presidium member, former minister Advocate Sahara Khatun's second death anniversary on Saturday (July 9). Sahara Khatun died on July 9, 2020 in a hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. He was 6 years old at the time of his death. Sahara Khatun was a member of the Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh National Assemblies. He was born on 1 March 1943 in Kurmitola, Dhaka. In education, he earned a BA and an LLB degree and was involved in politics as well as law. He entered student politics from his student life. After entering the legal profession, he became actively involved in Awami League politics. When the women's wing of the Awami League was formed in 1989, she started actively participating in it and started organizing women all over Dhaka city under the leadership of Ivy Rahman. At the behest of Bangabandhu, the national leader, the late Tajuddin Ahmed, formed the women's wing of the Awami League. Since then he used to participate in everything from procession meetings. He also directly participated in the hoisting of the national flag on March 2 at Dhaka University. Sahara Khatun was first elected as the female secretary of Nagar Awami League. Later, she was elected office secretary, general secretary and vice-president of Nagar Awami League. He was later elected Assistant Legal Secretary in the Central Committee of the Awami League, later he was elected Law Secretary. He was then elected a member of the presidium of the Central Committee of the Awami League in the next council. Until his death, he served as a member of the presidium of the Awami League.
