Life sentence of a young man in a rape case in Thakurgaon

Thakurgaon Correspondent: Asaduzzaman alias Rizvi, accused in a 2010 rape case in Thakurgaon, was sentenced to life imprisonment and six months imprisonment for non-payment of a fine of Tk 10,000. Judge (District and Sessions Judge) of the Thakurgaon Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal Md Golam Farooq handed down the verdict on Tuesday. Rizvi is the son of late Nurul Islam of Cornite village in Ranishankail upazila. According to the details of the case, the woman from Cornite village in Ranishankail upazila of the district was staying at Oishee Mass in Gobindnagar area of ​​the municipal town while studying at Thakurgaon Polytechnic Institute. On the day of the incident, on May 26, 2010, accused Rizvi called the woman to Tangon Bridge in the city to buy a sofa. The woman took him to Birganj in Dinajpur district on a motorcycle to buy a sofa in Birganj. Later, the woman was taken to Pirganj in Thakurgaon district on a motorcycle and later to Khandaker High Residential Hotel in Ranishankail, forcibly raped and brought back to Thakurgaon. The woman reported the matter to her father on her mobile phone. The next day, Rizvi said that the matter would be settled. Finally, after a long trial, the court convicted Rizvi and sentenced him to life imprisonment and six months imprisonment for non-payment of a fine of Tk 10,000.
