Self-reporter: The court has ordered remand for another seven days in the two cases of vandalism, arson and sabotage during the May 5 incident at Motijheel's Shapla Chattar and the recent anti-Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi movement.

Earlier on Monday (April 26) morning, the police sent a 10-day remand to the court in two cases of sabotage in the Shapla Chattar incident in Motijheel and during the anti-Modi movement. Later, the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury granted remand for four days in a case filed by Motijheel Police Station and three days in a case filed in Paltan Police Station for questioning in police custody. Mohammadpur police produced him in court at around 10:50 am on Monday (April 26) after a seven-day remand.

He was then remanded in court custody. He was arrested from Jamia Rahmania Madrasa in Mohammadpur on April 18 at around 12:30 pm. He was later remanded in custody for seven days by Mamunul Haque in a case of theft and beating at Mohammadpur police station on April 19 last year. Incidentally, 18 people, including Hefazat's joint secretary general Mamunul Haque, have been charged in connection with the March 26 violence at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.

Khandaker Arifuzzaman, deputy office secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan South Juba League, filed the case with the Paltan Police Station. In that case, 2,000 people were also made anonymous accused.

Besides, he was arrested in the case of sabotage of Shapla Chattar of Motijheel Police Station in 2013. It may be mentioned that Maulana Mamunul Haque was in the discussion due to the movement of Hefazat against the recent visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During Modi's visit, 17 people were killed in violence in the country from March 26 to 27.

There have been more than 50 cases of violence across the country. Police consider Mamunul as the main instigator of these incidents. On April 3, locals blocked Mamunul Haque and his wife in room 501 of the Royal Resort in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj. Later the police went and rescued him. Mamunul Haque claimed that she was sometimes his second wife and sometimes a humane wife. From then on, he came to the center of the discussion.
