News Desk: This year, the rate of Fitra in Bangladesh has been set at a minimum of Tk 80 per person and a maximum of Tk 2,310. The rate was fixed at a meeting of the National Fitra Determination Committee at the meeting hall of the Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram in the capital on Wednesday. This information was given in the press release of the Islamic Foundation (IFA).

The meeting unanimously decided that according to the Islamic Shariah, a certain amount of flour, dates, wheat, raisins, cheese, and barley or its market value can be distributed among the poor as fitra according to one's ability. In the case of flour, the amount is 750 grams per kg (half a sa '). In the case of dates, raisins, cheese, and barley, Sadaqatul Fitr (Fitra) has to be collected through 3 kg 300 gm (one sa '). The maximum and minimum fitra is fixed by calculating the market price of these products.

Ifa says there are differences in the local retail market prices of Fitra products. As a result, even if the local price is paid, the fitra will be collected. In Islam, it is obligatory for all able-bodied Muslims, big and small, men and women, to pay Fitra. It is also obligatory to distribute Fitra before the Eid prayers.
