CID will seek remand after showing the arrest of Mamunul in Narayanganj sabotage case

News Desk: Hefazat-e-Islam's joint secretary general Maulana Mamunul Haque has been implicated in a sabotage incident in Narayanganj following the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police will seek remand in the case. CID Additional Inspector General of Police Barrister Mahbubur Rahman said this at a press conference at the CID office on Tuesday (April 20).

Earlier on Monday (April 19), Mamunul was taken to court. Earlier, the police had applied for a seven-day remand against him. Following the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari granted a 7-day remand.

Hefazat-e-Islam joint secretary general Maulana Mamunul Haque was arrested from Jamia Rahmania Madrasa in the capital's Mohammadpur on Sunday (April 18th) at noon.

In a briefing on the same day after Mamunul's arrest, Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Harun Aur Rashid said Mamunul had made provocative remarks at various times in the country. In this context, vandalism and vandalism have taken place in different places. There have been more cases against him for this. He said that many things including police stations and government offices have been vandalized in the recent crackdown on custody across the country. We also had a case of vandalism in Mohammadpur police station.

We were investigating in the context of that case. Based on the investigation, we have confirmed that he is involved in a case in 2020. In this case, we arrested him from Jamia Rahmania Madrasa at around 1:15 pm.

I was arrested from there and brought to our office. DC also said that Mamunul has admitted the truth of this incident. Responding to a question from reporters, Harun Aur Rashid said that Hifazat has been giving provocative speeches in various places since the incident at Motijheel Shapla Chattar in 2013. In this context, various unpleasant incidents including vandalism have taken place in different parts of the country. There are numerous cases against Mamunul. We have found the truth in the case that we have.
