'The owners' association demanded that the market be opened from April 22

News Desk: The leaders of the Bangladesh Shop Owners' Association have demanded the opening of markets, shops, and small businesses from April 22 in compliance with all the necessary hygiene rules. They also demanded that the country be vaccinated within the next three months with the aim of providing Tk 48,354 crore as loan incentives to small traders before Eid and half of the Tk 96,808 crore of workers salaries and bonuses.

The leaders made the demands at a press conference organized by the Bangladesh Shop Owners Association and Dhaka Metropolitan (North and South) Shop Owners Association on Sunday (April 18) at the office room of New Market Businessmen's Association in the capital to demand the opening of markets and shops by April 22.The

In a written statement, Helaluddin said traders had suffered financially due to the deadly coronavirus epidemic in the last year.

When the first corona infection was detected in Bangladesh on March 16, 2020, we, the shop owners, voluntarily shut down everything from March 25. The government declared everything closed from March 26 the next day. Since then, extreme business recession and financial uncertainty have descended on the lives of small traders in this country.

"After the opening of shops and markets on a limited scale after our application on May 5 last year, there has been some momentum in trade and commerce," he said.

After that, the government imposed restrictions from April 6 to 13 and strict restrictions from April 14 to 21 as the infection continued to increase. They demanded to open the market considering the situation of the traders.
