Prof Dr Tarek Shamsur Rehman found dead

News Desk: Jahangirnagar University (JU) Professor of International Relations, columnist, and political analyst. His body has been recovered from the house of Tareq Shamsur Rehman. His body was found at his home at RAJUK's Uttara Apartment Project in Dhaka on Saturday (April 18th) at noon. RAJUK's Uttara apartment project director.

Mozaffar Ahmed has confirmed this information. He said the housemaid went to Tareq Shamsur Rahman's house in the morning. He was ringing the calling bell from outside but the door was not opening. Later, the housemaid went downstairs and informed the security guard of the house. After that, everyone in the area went to the door of the house and called Tareq Shamsur Rehman, but his response did not match. Later, Turag police were informed around 11 pm.

Police broke down the door of the house and recovered his body. Mozaffar Ahmed said that the body of Tareq Shamsur Rahman was lying in front of the bathroom. He vomited there. Police recovered the body and took it to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital. Tareq Shamsur Rehman started teaching in the Department of Government and Politics at Jahangirnagar University.

He then established the Department of International Relations at the University. Tareq Shamsur Rehman, a former member of the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC), was a professor and former chairman of the Department of International Relations at Jahangirnagar University.

He has written many books on Bangladesh, South Asia, and global politics. In addition to writing books, he wrote columns for various national dailies. He had a reputation as one of the best political analysts in the country. The teacher retired from Jahangirnagar University two years ago. He lived alone in his flat in Uttara. Other members of his family live in the United States. Dr. holds a Ph.D. in International Relations.

Rehman holds an Honors and Masters degree from Dhaka University. Comparative politics is another subject of his research. His notable books include Post-Iraq International Politics, Enemies of Democracy, New World Order and International Politics, World Politics Movies, Sub-Regional Alliance, Transit Issues and Gas Export, Bangladesh: State and Politics, Bangladesh: 25 Years of Politics, Bangladesh: Four Decades of Politics, Ganges Water Treaty: Perspectives and Prospects, Soviet-Bangladesh Relations, 100 Years of World Politics, etc.
