ATU arrests one active member of Hizb ut-Tahrir

News Desk: A team of the Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) conducted an operation on the night of March 22 (Monday) and arrested an active member of the banned militant group Hizb ut-Tahrir from the Mohakhali area of ​​the DMP. The arrested members are Abiaz Ahmed Sarkarratul (28) and father Bazlur Rashid Sarkar.

Ratul is currently studying BSc in IT in the final semester of the 4th year of the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS). The arrested Ratul and his other associates were distributing leaflets among the people, including posters in support of the banned militant group Hizb ut-Tahrir, in different parts of the country, including Dhaka, ahead of Hizb ut-Tahrir's online conference in October 2020.

Moreover, he had been conducting various activities for a long time by conspiring against the state to establish a caliphate in the country by overthrowing the present democratic government. The arrested Ratul DMP is a fugitive accused of Bhatara police station under the anti-terrorism law. Further legal action is being taken against him.
