News Desk: Airport Police have arrested a Saudi-bound passenger named Rakib Hossain (31) with 10,000 pieces of yaba hidden in a special jar of pickles. He was arrested from the airport exit terminal around 3:30 pm on Sunday.
Airport Armed Police Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations) confirmed the matter. Alamgir Hossain. He said the arrested Rakib Hossain was scheduled to fly from Dhaka to Saudi Arabia via Bahrain at 5.40 am on a Gulf Air (GF251) flight.
He was actually challenged by members of the airport armed police at the international departure terminal on the basis of secret information. At that time, 9,065 pieces of yaba were found in two large jars of tamarind pickles with a market value of Tk 5 million. The arrested Rakib's house is in Ramganj of Laxmipur. During interrogation, he said that a person from a travel agency named Nazmul (30) had given him a jar of this yaba.
A case was filed against Rakib under the Narcotics Control Act at the Airport Police Station at 11 am on Monday. Nazmul and other unidentified persons have been named in the case.
