News Desk: On the occasion of the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence and the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, three MoUs may be signed between India and Bangladesh during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Dhaka.

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen made the remarks at a news briefing on Tuesday.

Apart from India, the Prime Ministers of Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives will also take part in the event.

Momen told reporters it was a historic event. (Without any summit) In just 10 days, five heads of government have never come before.

"It's a very unusual time (because of the coronavirus) ... yet the heads of government of our neighboring countries are coming to pay their respects to the father of the nation," he said. During the visit, Narendra Modi will meet Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and visit two places outside Dhaka.

The foreign minister said three memoranda of understanding were expected to be signed between the two sides.

They have not been finalized yet. Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen said a memorandum of understanding on disaster management and co-operation was likely to be signed between the two countries.

“We are working on each memorandum of understanding,” he said. The final scene will come in the next day or two.
