Diplomatic Correspondent: The Minister of Home Affairs, Salahuddin Ahmed, held a wide-ranging and constructive discussion with EU Ambassador Michael Miller, focusing on key areas including security cooperation, migration management, and the promotion of human rights.
During the meeting, Ambassador Miller reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s reform initiatives. He highlighted the EU’s readiness to share its experience in safeguarding human rights, establishing independent police oversight mechanisms, and ensuring judicial independence.
Both sides expressed optimism as the European Union and Bangladesh prepare to advance their comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation Agreement later this week. The EU looks forward to working closely with the Government of Bangladesh to effectively implement this framework and further deepen bilateral cooperation.
