Diplomatic Correspondent: On 7 April 2026, H.E. Mrs. Thitiporn Chirasawadi, Ambassador of Thailand to Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Khandakar Muktadir, Minister of Commerce, as well as Minister of Textiles and Jute and Minister of Industries.
During the meeting, both sides held constructive discussions on strengthening Thailand–Bangladesh bilateral relations, with a focus on trade, economic cooperation, and regional connectivity. They reviewed ongoing engagements, including exploratory discussions on a potential Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and the development of the Ranong–Chattogram shipping route.
The two sides emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral trade volume and identified opportunities for expanding cooperation in key sectors. In particular, they highlighted the value of knowledge sharing in areas such as rice production, agricultural productivity, and fisheries to support domestic consumption and food security.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries to deepening economic ties and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships.
