Diplomatic Correspondent: High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma, visited the University of Dhaka (DU) on 6 April 2026, where he held a meeting with Vice Chancellor Professor A.B.M. Obaidul Islam and senior faculty members.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on enhancing educational cooperation and expanding academic exchanges between Dhaka University and leading Indian universities and institutions. The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in higher education, research, and cultural engagement.
As part of his visit, the High Commissioner toured the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies, the Department of Music, and the Department of Dance. He interacted with teachers and students and witnessed a range of performances, highlighting the vibrant cultural environment of the university.
He also visited the Institute of Modern Languages (IML), where he presented more than 1,500 books on literature and pedagogy to the Hindi Department. The contribution aims to support the development and enrichment of the Hindi language curriculum at the university.
The visit underscores the growing academic and cultural ties between Bangladesh and India, with both sides expressing commitment to further strengthening cooperation in the education sector.
