Algerian Former President Liamine Zeroual Passes Away

Diplomatic Correspondent: With profound sorrow, the Algerian Embassy in Dhaka has announced the passing of former President and Mujahid, Liamine Zeroual, on 28 March 2026 at the age of 84.

Mr. Zeroual, who served as the sixth President of Algeria, is remembered not only for his leadership but also for his commitment to strengthening Algeria’s international relations, including the longstanding and friendly ties between Algeria and Bangladesh.

To pay tribute to the late President, the Embassy has opened a condolence book at its premises located at House 06, Road 13, Baridhara Diplomatic Zone, Dhaka-1212. The condolence book was available on 31 March 2026 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and remains open from 1 April to 2 April 2026 between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations, and distinguished guests have been visiting the Embassy to sign the condolence book and pay their respects.

The Embassy has extended its deepest condolences and expressed sincere appreciation for the solidarity shown by the Government of Bangladesh, diplomatic missions, and all friends of Algeria during this time of mourning.
