Canada–Bangladesh Trade and Business Cooperation Highlighted at CanCham Iftar

Diplomatic Correspondent: The High Commissioner of Ajit Singh and Senior Trade Commissioner Debra Boyce joined distinguished business leaders and guests at an Iftar Mahfil hosted by the Canada Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CanCham) on March 15, 2026.

During the event, speakers including High Commissioner Ajit Singh, CanCham President Mohammad Kamal Uddin, Vice-President Mostofa Quamrus Sobhan, and Director Ahmad Mushfeq Anam highlighted the strong and longstanding relationship between Canada and Bangladesh.

The speakers emphasized that bilateral trade between the two countries exceeded $4 billion in 2025, demonstrating the resilience and growing strength of economic cooperation despite global challenges. They also underscored the importance of strong people-to-people connections and business collaborations that continue to create new opportunities for shared prosperity.

Ramadan, a time of reflection, generosity, and community, provided a meaningful backdrop for the gathering. Participants noted that such events help strengthen partnerships and deepen mutual understanding between the business communities of both countries.

The Canadian High Commission expressed its appreciation to CanCham for organizing the successful event and for its continued role in bringing together Canadian and Bangladeshi businesses. Special thanks were extended to CanCham, led by President Md. Kamal Uddin, for hosting a wonderful evening that further reinforced the growing partnership between Canada and Bangladesh.
