Diplomatic Correspondent: The Ambassador of Indonesia to Bangladesh, H.E. Ms. Listyowati paid a courtesy call on Shama Obaed Islam, Hon’ble Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bangladesh today.
During the meeting, both sides discussed avenues to further strengthen bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Indonesia, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, energy, and connectivity. The two sides also reviewed the progress of negotiations on the proposed Bangladesh–Indonesia Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), expressing optimism about advancing the process.
Bangladesh sought Indonesia’s support for its bid to become an ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partner and conveyed appreciation for Indonesia’s continued cooperation in regional and international forums.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries to deepen bilateral cooperation as Bangladesh and Indonesia prepare to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year.
