Elon Musk Calls for Boycott of Netflix

World’s richest man and tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has taken a firm stance against OTT platform Netflix. Musk expressed anger at the streaming giant for featuring a transgender character in an animated series aimed at children and called on his followers to cancel their Netflix subscriptions.

Musk accused Netflix of promoting what he called “woke culture bias” and spreading LGBTQ messages to children. On his X account (formerly Twitter), he made several posts and reposts using the hashtag #CancelNetflix. According to various reports, Musk has made such posts at least 26 times.

The controversy began on Tuesday when Musk shared a post from a right-wing account named Libs of TikTok, writing, “This is not okay.” The post included a clip from the Netflix show “Dead End: Paranormal Park,” in which the character Barney reveals that he is transgender.

Libs of TikTok claimed that Netflix is pushing transgender messaging toward children, noting that the show is rated suitable for audiences aged seven and up.

However, Zach Barack, the voice actor for Barney and the first openly transgender actor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, rejected Musk’s claims, saying, “You can spread fear all you want, but countless kids and parents have told me this character brought hope into their lives.”

Netflix has not yet responded to Musk’s comments.
