Saudi Defense Minister and Pakistan Army Chief Hold Emergency Meeting

News Desk: Amid rising tensions with Iran, Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman Al Saud and Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir held an emergency meeting.
The live report on Saturday (March 7) by Al Jazeera confirmed the meeting. According to the Saudi Ministry of Defense, the discussion focused on Iran’s aggression against Saudi Arabia. The meeting was held under the framework of the strategic defense agreement between the two fraternal countries.
The statement added that both sides expressed hope that Iran would act with prudence and reason, avoiding miscalculations.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar hinted that under the mutual defense pact with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan might be drawn into the ongoing conflict with Iran. The pact, signed on September 17 last year, aimed to enhance defense cooperation and strengthen joint deterrence against any aggression. Both countries also pledged to work for regional and global peace. The agreement came amid heightened concerns over security in the Gulf region following attacks on Israel in Doha, Qatar.
Relations between Iran and Pakistan have long been complex. In January 2024, cross-border missile and drone strikes escalated tensions between the two countries. In the current situation, it remains a key question whether Islamabad will maintain diplomatic balance or become militarily involved.
