Russian House in Dhaka Celebrates 80th Anniversary of Victory Day with Folk Dance Performance

On Saturday, the Russian House in Dhaka celebrated the 80th anniversary of Victory Day by showcasing the rich tradition of Russian folk dance.

The festive event featured a performance by the renowned Russian folk dance troupe “Obraz,” which paid tribute to the enduring legacy of courage, unity, and peace.

In his welcome address, Mr. Pavel Dvoychenkov, Director of the Russian House in Dhaka, highlighted the historical significance of Victory Day. He noted that May 9 is commemorated annually to honor the sacrifices and bravery of those who gave their lives during the Great Patriotic War. He further emphasized the growing importance of cultural relations between Russia and Bangladesh, stating that such events help strengthen mutual friendship and sincere connections between the two nations.

The event was attended by H.E. Alexander G. Khodzhin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bangladesh, and Mr. Mia Sattar, President of the Russian Friendship Society with Bangladesh. Diplomats, cultural personalities, students, youth representatives, and members of the Bangladeshi public also gathered at the event, united by a shared appreciation for international cultural exchange.

The “Obraz” troupe presented a captivating series of performances that vividly brought Russian cultural heritage to life through vibrant costumes, rhythmic choreography, and expressive storytelling. Each dance was met with warm applause and cheers, keeping the audience enthralled throughout the evening.

This special cultural event not only paid homage to the historical significance of Victory Day but also carried a powerful message of enduring friendship and shared values between Russia and Bangladesh. It reaffirmed the role of culture as a powerful force in fostering unity, inspiration, and cross-national bridges among peoples.
