In Nawabganj, the bodies of men and women were recovered from the pit during the tribal wedding ceremony

Dinajpur Correspondent: After the wedding ceremony of the tribal family in Nawabganj of Dinajpur, the local police recovered the bodies of two people from the deep pit on Tuesday. Those concerned believe that they died after drinking brewed liquor and falling into a pit filled with water. 

Among the two dead, one is Sirajul Islam Baltu (56), son of deceased Peshkar Ali of Malvbanipur village, and the other is a tribal woman who came to invite. His name is Sarathi Pahan (60). She is the wife of deceased Shuku Pahan of Chak Gopalpur Sarkarpara, Mitha Pond, Rangpur.

It is known that a wedding ceremony took place last Monday night in Adivasipara, a village next to entertainment center Swapnapuri in Kushdah Union No. 9 of Nawabganj Upazila. The bridegrooms came from Panchbibi area of ​​Jaipurhat district to tie the knot with the deceased Biplab Hansdar's daughter. Neighbors and relatives were invited to the event. At the wedding ceremony, they were enjoying themselves with dancing and drinking home-made liquor. In the morning, the locals informed the police after seeing two bodies lying in a water-filled pit next to the house.

Chairman of Kushdah Union Parishad Anwar Hossain said that after digging a deep well next to the house for the newly constructed toilet, the owner of the house covered it with banana leaves. Those two died after falling into that hole due to excessive drinking in the night.

Sub-inspector Abdus Sattar working at Aftabganj police outpost of Nawabganj police station said that the post-mortem report did not show any injury marks on the body. However, both of them had signs of drugs in their bodies. They somehow fell into the deep pit and died.
