Attack and vandalism on Awami League leaders and activists in Sharsha

Benapole correspondent: Sheikh Hasina has left the country after resigning. After Monday afternoon, when the news spread, the students marched in joy across the country. However, in Sharsha, Awami League leaders-workers and party offices were extensively vandalized, houses looted and arson occurred. Many leaders and activists have been injured. The angry BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists beat and seriously injured Awami League activist Solaiman, son of Altaf Hossain of Balunda village. He later died at Jessore Sadar Hospital. The seriously injured Awami League worker is undergoing treatment at Liton Hospital.

When the news of Sheikh Hasina leaving the country spread, the students and the people all over the Sharsha upazila took part in a joyous procession. At around 3 o'clock in the afternoon, they marched on the streets in different places of the upazila. In the afternoon, angry BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists attacked, vandalized and set fire to the Awami League office. At that time, the personal office and house of Sharsha Sadar Union Chairman Kabir Uddin Ahmed Tota was attacked, vandalized, looted and set on fire. The car parked in front of his house was vandalized and set on fire. Awami League office in Navron Bazar was vandalized and looted by the aggressors who ransacked, looted and set fire to the shops of various Awami League leaders and supporters in the market. Later, angry BNP-Jamaat leaders vandalized, looted and set fire to the office of Upazila Vice Chairman Abdur Rahim Sardar at Navaron Satkhira intersection.

Ulashi Union Awami League president former chairman Aynal Haque's house was attacked, vandalized, looted and set on fire. A fish enclosure, cattle farm were attacked, vandalized and looted. At that time, the attackers beat and injured several people including his brother Abder Hossain. The attackers vandalized and set fire to the office of former member Tariqul Islam Milan in Ulashi Bazar.
