News Desk: Jahangirnagar University administration has asked the students to leave the hall by 10 am on Monday after breaking the lock. This was stated in a circular signed by the acting registrar of the university Rahima Kaniz on Sunday.
It said the administration would be forced to take legal action if students did not leave the hall on their own initiative by 10 am on Monday. The university, like other universities in the country, has been closed since March 19 following government directives to protect students from the Kovid-19 epidemic, the statement said. On Friday (February 19) evening, a local youth got into a fight with a student over a cricket match in the Gerua area adjacent to JU.
In the wake of this incident, the locals announced the mic and attacked the university teachers. Students have been demanding the reopening of the hall since the incident. When the locks of 16 halls of the university were broken last Saturday, the agitating students entered.
