Sports Desk: The Zimbabwe Cricket Board has announced the closure of all cricket activities across the country. All forms of cricket have been shut down mainly due to government decisions to deal with the new strain of coronavirus. Not just cricket, all sports in Zimbabwe have been banned for the time being. The country's Sports and Recreation Commission said in an official announcement.

A statement from the Zimbabwe Cricket Board said, "This is a very challenging time. However, the Zimbabwe Cricket Board will announce the new timing of all the schedules affected by the decision. In particular, the domestic T20 tournament, which starts on Monday (January 4), will be rescheduled. In November last year, Pakistan toured Zimbabwe to play three ODIs and a Twenty20. But they have not played an international match at home since the arrival of the coronavirus. They were scheduled to host a home series against Afghanistan in August 2020.

The Indian cricket team was also scheduled to tour Zimbabwe to play three ODIs later this month. But neither of those two series saw the light of day. Canceled due to corona. Zimbabwe senior batsman and former captain Brendon Taylor said the repeated cancellations and setbacks due to Corona were having a devastating effect on the national team. "Personally, these breaks are not helping us at all," he told The Standard, a Zimbabwean weekly.

Taylor added, ‘I think we are a team that should play regularly. We have always suffered from a lack of cricket. This year (2020) we had a lot of games ahead of us. But because of the epidemic, everything has fallen into uncertainty. So it's really frustrating. "
