Sports Desk: Bangladesh is going to return to international cricket with a series against West Indies. With this series in mind, the training camp of the national cricket team is starting from January 10.

Earlier, John Lewis will join the team. The BCB has finalized the appointment of the English coach as the batting consultant. John Lewis will come to Bangladesh in two-three days and sign the agreement. BCB sources have confirmed the matter. The BCB will officially inform about this after the arrival of Lewis. It will be known then how long the contract with the English coach will be.

The West Indies will arrive in Bangladesh on January 10 to play two Tests and three ODIs. The training camp of Bangladesh team will start on the same day. All the coaching staff will return to Dhaka before the start of the camp. Lewis, who is going to replace Neil McKenzie, will come to Dhaka first.

The former England first-class cricketer was Sri Lanka's batting consultant for the 2019 World Cup. He spent 22 years at Durham County Club as a player, captain and coach. He retired from first-class cricket for the team 12 years ago.

Earlier, Lewis scored 6,754 runs in 146 first-class matches. Which is the third highest run record in the history of the club. Earlier, Lewis played for Sussex and Essex. The former English batsman moved from Essex to Durham in 1998 and became the team's captain in 2000. In all, Lewis has scored 10,621 runs in 18 centuries in 205 first-class matches in the county.

He started his coaching career in Durham at the end of his playing career. In 2013, Lewis was named head coach of Durham due to the illness of head coach Geoff Cook. Durham won the county championship under him that year. Lewis won the Royal London ODI Cup with Durham in 2014. He left Durham in December 2016 and took over as Sri Lanka's batting consultant. Lewis also left this responsibility after the 2019 World Cup.
