The strike of health assistants in Ishwarganj disrupted vaccination activities

Ishwarganj Correspondent: A strike is going on in Ishwarganj demanding amendment of salary inequality and recruitment rules of health assistants. As a result of the strike, the vaccination program at the field level is closed.

The mothers who came to the hospital could not get vaccinated and were returning home with their children. Hospital sources said there are 264 vaccination centers in the upazila. During the camp, about 990 children were vaccinated against BCG, Polio, Hepa-B, Pneumonia, Influenza and Measles and Rubella. Hundreds of children in the upazila have been exposed to various health risks as the vaccination program has been closed since November 27.

Romesha Khatun of Chatti village, Dina Begum of Charshihari village and Rahima Khatun of Kakanhati village, who came to the Upazila Health Center for vaccination, said that they could not find any health assistants as per the date. I was forced to come to the hospital. Here too I have to go home without getting any vaccinations.

Affected mothers are extremely frustrated that they do not know when they will be vaccinated. Meanwhile, AKM Anisur Razzak Bhuiyan Khokon, president of the Upazila Health Assistants Association, Nazrul Islam, general secretary, Ittekhar Alam Khan Rony, joint convener of the demand implementation council upazila branch, and Azharul Islam Khan, member of the central publicity sub-committee, said the agitation would continue until their just demands were met. .

Upazila Health and P.P. Officer Dr. Nurul Huda Khan said the permanent vaccination center at the hospital would be open two days a week. Children arriving from different areas will be vaccinated here.
