Sports desk:  Sri Lanka cricket team crossed 300 on the first day by disappointing the Bangladesh team. At the end of the first day of the Chittagong Test, Sri Lanka collected 314 runs for 4 wickets. Former and current captain Dinesh Chandimal and Dhananjaya de Silva are unbeaten on 34 and 15 runs.

Sri Lanka got off to a flying start after winning the toss and batting first at Chittagong's Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Saturday. Two openers Nishan Madushanka and Dimuth Karunaratne added 96 runs to the opening pair.

Opener Nishan Madushanka scored 56 runs off 105 balls with 6 boundaries before being run out.

Former captain Dimuth Karunaratne again made a pair of 114 runs with Kushal Mendis for the second wicket.

Karunaratne was on his way to a century by batting brilliantly from the beginning of the innings. He was denied a century by Hasan Mahmud, who made his debut in this Test. Opener Karunaratne scored 86 runs off 129 balls with 8 fours and a six before his ball was bowled.

Kushal Mendis was in danger after forming a partnership of 53 runs with former captain Angelo Mathews after opener Karunaratne was dismissed for the team's 210 runs. He also left the field regretting the century. This Sri Lankan star batsman did not see the 10th Test century for only 7 runs.

Kushal Mendis scored 93 runs off 150 balls with the help of 11 fours and a six before he was caught by Mehdi Hasan Miraj off Shakib Al Hasan.

Another former Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews returned as Hasan Mahmud's second victim at the end of the day. He scored 23 runs off 71 balls with two fours and a six to take the team to 289 runs.

Then the former and current captain Dinesh Chandimal and Dhananjaya de Silva batted in the last 9 overs of the day.
