News Desk: Four people were killed when a fish truck overturned on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. Three others were injured. The accident took place at Elliotganj of Comilla on the highway at 6 am on Tuesday.
The deceased are Rafiqul Islam of Satkhira district, Monir Hossain, Habibur Rahman and Akhter Hossain of Manpura area of Bhola district. The identity of the injured is yet to be found.
Elliotganj Highway Police Incharge Omar Farooq Mollah confirmed the matter to the media.
Omar Farooq said, on the way to Dhaka with fish from Noakhali, the fish-laden truck overturned after hitting a truck in front of it at Elliotganj of Comilla. At that time, four people were seriously injured when they were crushed under the fish in the truck. All the four died on the way to Chandina Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Police officer Omar Farooq also said that the bodies of the deceased have been kept at the Elliotganj police outpost. He said that the truck involved in the accident was also rescued and removed from the road.
