Inauguration of 2nd International Drama Festival at Nazrul University

Nazrul University Representative:  National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University organized the 2nd International Theater Festival organized by Department of Theater and Performance Studies. On Tuesday (February 20) morning, the 2nd International Theater Festival at Churulia Manch was attended by the Vice-Chancellor of the University as the chief guest. Soumitra Shekhar. 

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Soumitra Shekhar said in the speech of the chief guest, 'We must do drama in one place. But the language of drama is international. Real drama creates a language beyond our conventional language. which is the language of drama. Returns a new message. This language of drama is universal. Saying a lot about nothing can only be said by dramatists.'

Regarding the International Drama Festival, the Vice-Chancellor said that the International Drama Festival has a perspective. This event is very important. It is being organized for the second time. We hope that next time the theater festival will be organized on a larger scale.

Head of Department of Drama and Performance Studies. Md. Kamal Uddin presided over the program as a special guest, Rabindra Bharti University former Vice-Chancellor Professor The Holy Government, Nazrul University Treasurer Professor Dr. Ataur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Dr. Musharrat Shabnam, registrar agriculturist Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir. Other teachers, students and officials of the university and department were present on the occasion. Associate Professor Dr. Syed Mamun Reza. Conducted by Mazharul Hossain Tokder.

It should be noted that a total of 06 plays including 03 Indian theater productions are going to be exhibited in this festival. Based on a false story produced by West Bengal theater troupe Indian Mime Theater will be staged on February 20 at 7 pm as the inaugural play. The drama is directed by Suraj Biswas and Madhurima Goswami. Other productions include Rabindranath Tagore's dance play Bisarjan directed by Apoorva Chakraborty, student director of the Department of Drama and Performance, Momdana written by Habib Zakaria directed by Saqlain Arafat and Shambhur Diary directed by Fuad Hasan Parth, Hindi language drama Yes produced by India's Gobardanga Naksha and Last Days of India directed by Ashish Das. Drama is amazing people. The productions will be performed at the Zia Haider Theater Lab in Kala Bhavan at 07:00 pm every day.
