There is no annual examination from sixth to ninth class

News Desk: There will be no more semi-annual and annual examinations from sixth to ninth grade in public and private schools of the country. This information is known from the academic calendar published in the notification issued by the secondary and higher education department of the Ministry of Education.

According to the syllabus, two summative assessments will be held from 2024 in classes VI, VII, VIII and IX. There will be six-monthly summative assessment in the middle of the year and annual summative assessment test will be conducted at the end of the year. And in class 10th pre-selection exam and selection exam will be held.

According to the curriculum, the six-month collective evaluation and pre-selection examination of the new curriculum of secondary and lower secondary government and private schools in 2024 will begin in May. The evaluation will start from May 23 and will continue till June 9. The results of the six-monthly collective evaluation and pre-selection examination will be published on July 10. From November 21, the annual collective evaluation of the students of the secondary and lower secondary educational institutions of the new curriculum will begin, and will continue until December 8. And the evaluation result will be published on December 30.

According to the Ministry of Education, six-monthly and annual summative evaluations should be organized according to this schedule. Evaluation documents must be retained by the school for at least one year. Assessment date cannot be changed. In order to change in special circumstances, the permission of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (MAUSHI) must be obtained. Assessment questions should be formulated by teachers themselves. Questions collected from any source cannot be evaluated.

Apart from this, in 2024, the primary school will also teach in the first, second and third grade with a new curriculum. There will be no exam in these three classes as well. Half-yearly and annual examinations will be held only in class IV and V. It will also be canceled from 2025. From that year, the new curriculum will be launched in fourth-fifth. As a result, after the next two years, the half-yearly and annual examinations for classes I to 10 will be stopped.
