Correspondent: A robbery has taken place at the house of a police officer of the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Matiranga of Khagrachari district. On Thursday (October 6), a group of thieves broke through the wooden grill of the cattle shed of the residence and stole 3 cows worth one and a half lakh rupees in Sinhapara village under Tabalchari union of the upazila. It is known that Chittagong Assistant Superintendent of Police - ASP (Rangunia-Raujan Circle) Md. Anwar Hossain Shamim's ancestral home is in Sinhapara village under Khagrachari district. Apart from ASP's parents, several other family members live in the house. According to local sources, this heinous theft took place at any time from 12:00 pm to 5:00 am on Thursday. It should be noted that ASP Anwar Hossain Shamim's father Abdul Mannan is well-known in the area as a gentleman and noble person. During his career, he was engaged in many important responsibilities including founding president of the local Noapara Government Primary School, president of the management committee of Taindong High School and Taindong Madrasa, president of the local Sinhpara Jame Masjid management committee for 24 consecutive years, Guchchagram project chairman. The theft of the house of such a respectable person has created sensation in the district. Locals have demanded to quickly solve the mystery and rescue the stolen cows. Ahmed Kamal, UP member of ward No. 1 of the local Tabalchari union, said in this context, Mannan Ankel is well-known in the entire Khagrachari district, not only as the father of an ASP, but also as a philanthropist and a good person. I strongly condemn this heinous incident of theft in his house. It will set a terrible example for the entire district if the thieves and those behind it are not brought under the law. This public representative also fears that such incidents will increase in the future if an ASP gets away by stealing. ASP's father Abdul Mannan said in response to the question whether he filed a case, I have left the burden on Allah. So I will not sue. My son is also a policeman, so my request to the police force is to at least identify the gang of thieves. Mine is gone, gone. Allah tests in two ways. I want no one else to suffer like this. When asked about this, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Md. Anwar Hossain Shamim declined to comment.
