Two tea factories fined for not having price list in Tentulia

Al Masood, Panchagarh: The mobile court has fined two tea factories 12 thousand rupees for not having price list in the tea factory in Tentulia. Tentulia Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Sohag Chandra Saha conducted this operation in Shalbahan Union of Tentulia Upazila of Panchagarh district on Tuesday (July 26) afternoon and fined Surma and Purnima Tea Factory and Royal Tea Factory. According to the campaign sources, the factories were buying raw tea leaves from the farmers at a lower price than the price fixed by the Price Fixation Committee without drawing the price list. When the news about this came to light in various ways, the Shalbahan Union was raided and asked to see the receipts of tea purchased from those two factories. At that time they could not show the receipt. At the same time, as per the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009, Surma and Poornima Tea Factory was fined Rs 6,000 and Royal Tea Factory Rs 6,000 as a total fine of Rs 12,000. Tentulia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sohag Chandra Saha said that the tea leaf factories in Tentulia have been buying tea leaves at low prices without drawing the price list. When the operation was conducted on the basis of information, the factory authorities were fined by the mobile court under the Consumer Act for not being able to show the purchase receipt of tea leaves and not keeping the price list.
