Four companies fined Tk 2.5 lakh in Bogra mobile court raid

Sanju Roy, Bogra: A mobile court of the district administration has fined Tk 250,000 by raiding four separate rice mills and rice warehouses in Bogra Sherpur on charges of illegally stockpiling excess rice and conducting business without proper license and approval. The operation was carried out in Krishnapur and Andikumara areas of the upazila from 12 noon to noon on Wednesday. In the operation led by Executive Magistrate of Bogra District Administration Jannatul Naim, Gaur Gouranga Bhandar was charged Rs. Zahid Hasan was fined Rs 50,000 and two brothers Semi Auto Rice was fined Rs 80,000 for stockpiling rice and not approving the tenants' business. Rashedul Islam, food inspector of Sherpur, Golam Rabbani and high-ranking assistant Selim were present among others during the operation. District police and APBN police members also provided overall support to the operation. Regarding the operation, Bogra district administration executive magistrate Jannatul Naeem said some unscrupulous traders were trying to create an artificial crisis in the market by stockpiling extra rice. Again, many are unaware that they have to have a license to buy and sell food grains / food items from the Ministry of Food and Disaster Management along with all other licenses for storing rice and conducting business. Where it is allowed to stock how much rice but traders are stockpiling rice in excess of this approval limit in anticipation of higher profits. He said that under the leadership and overall direction of Bogra Deputy Commissioner Ziaul Haque, the district administration's mobile courts are strictly monitoring the market and rice mills so that no one can cheat the general public in the name of business. As part of which this campaign is being conducted which will continue.
