Bagerhat Correspondent: A mobile court has fined Barkat Rice Mill Tk 1 lakh for storing rice in Bagerhat in violation of license conditions. Bagerhat Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Muhammad Mushabberul Islam, acting as a mobile court judge, issued the order after conducting a raid on BSIC industrial city in Bagerhat town on Thursday (June 2). It is learned that the owner of this mill has not sold any rice in the retail market for the last 3 months even though it produces rice. Therefore, the mobile court has launched a campaign against the Bagerhatemjutdars to prevent the artificial rice crisis. However, no information was available on the amount of rice in stock. Besides, UNO gave various instructions after checking the papers of various rice mills and godowns in the city. Bagerhat Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Muhammad Mushabberul Islam said a group was making illegal stocks to destabilize the rice market. To control the rice market, we have conducted a campaign with different auto rice mills in Bagerhat. Among them, Barkat Rice Mill, owned by a man named Madhu Dham, has been producing rice for the last three months in BSCIC industrial city, but no information has been found about its sending to the retail market. For this reason, the mill owner has been fined one lakh rupees and warned. Such campaigns of the district administration will continue.
