Six members of a gang of thieves were arrested in Shibala

Shahjahan Biswas, Manikganj: Shibalaya police have arrested seven members of a gang of thieves, including a pickup truck full of stolen goods, for stealing valuable iron goods used in the development of Shibalaya section of Dhaka-Aricha highway. The arrested are: Abdur Rahim Driver (29), Md. Ikram Hossain (28), Sushant Biswas (28), Md. Helal (26), Wazed Ali (56), Sabuj Mollah (45), Md. Karim (32) and Md. Sumon ( 26). The first 5 mentioned road development contractors were employed in various positions in the Aricha sector of NDE Company. The detainees were sent to court through a wise court on Wednesday afternoon. Shibalaya Police Station SI Amirul Bahar said Sumon, the driver of the vehicle, was arrested on Tuesday night at a check post on Chashchira Road in the police station area along with stolen goods used in road development during a pickup search. During the preliminary interrogation, Sumon said that the goods carried in the pickup were secretly sold by some employees of the contractor for the road development work. According to his information, the rest of the gang members were arrested by conducting raids in different places of the police station area that night. On Wednesday morning, security guard of Aricha sector of NDE Company Md. Akkach Ali filed a case against them and the arrested accused were sent to court. The recovered goods and the pickup have been seized.
