Osman Gani, Jessore: BGB has arrested six smugglers in Jessore along with 16 kg gold bars worth Tk 13 crore. Gold bars were recovered from three private cars in Bahadurpur area of Jessore-Magura road on Wednesday morning. During this time, private cars and their used mobile phones were seized. The arrested are Zahidul Islam of Durgapur village of Benapole Port Police Station, Nazmul Hossain of Putkhali village, Arif Miaji of Ghagra village of Chandpur, Shahjalal of Nair village of Comilla, Abu Hayat Johnny of Balsha village of Madaripur and Rabiul Islam of Narayanganj Siddhirganj. Jessore-49 BGB captain Lt. at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon. Colonel Shahed Minhaj said the smugglers were traveling from Dhaka to Benapole in a private car in a fancy way to smuggle 15 kg 600 grams of gold into India. They were detained in a raid in Bahadurpur area of Jessore-Magura road in the early hours of the night. Preliminary interrogation revealed that they were all members of Nasir, the leader of the gold smuggling syndicate in Benapole Putkhali area. Later, in the presence of Executive Magistrate Abu Nasser, the private car was searched and the gold bar was recovered. Necessary legal action has been taken against the gold bars and the accused.
