The PBI has unveiled the mystery of Dumuria's Saurabh Mandal murder

Khulna Correspondent: Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Khulna has unveiled the mystery of the notorious Saurabh Mandal murder in West Balabunia village of Dumuria upazila of Khulna. Pranab Mandal, the main accused in the murder, was arrested two days ago. He also gave a confessional statement in court admitting his involvement in the murder. Judge Md Azharul Islam of Judicial Magistrate Court 4 recorded the statement. A press conference was held at noon on Wednesday (June 1) at the Khulna District PBI office. At the press conference, PBI spokesperson Syed Mushfiqur Rahman said that the deceased Saurabh Mandal was a field worker of Popular Life Insurance. He also traded in interest. Pranab Mandal, the main accused in the murder case, borrowed Tk 15,000 from Sourav Mandal. He broke his promise to return the money more than once. On the morning of July 3, 2019, Sourav Mandal went to Pranab's house to get his money back. Saurabh threatened to sue if he did not pay. Pranab was at a local event that night. On the way back home, Pranab goes to his house to meet Saurabh Mandal. At that time he told Sourav that he had many problems and could not pay the money. There was an argument between the two. At one point, Pranab strangled her and Saurabh died. Seeing no movement, Saurabh wrapped a towel around his neck and fled on the verandah. Pranab goes to the house of the villagers in the morning to see Saurabh's body so that no one would suspect him. Pranab fled to India 3 days after the murder. He returned to the country after a long two and a half years. He was arrested using his mobile and advanced technology. He described the murder during preliminary interrogation. He gave a confessional statement under section 164 in the court on Tuesday evening with the details of the murder. He added that the Saurabh murder case was a clout. The victim's husband filed a case with the police station mentioning the names of 8 accused. The accused are all neighbors of the deceased. There was previous enmity with them. The police arrested them. They are all on bail. Initially, the case was investigated by the police of Dumuria police station. However, due to lack of progress in the police investigation, the case was handed over to the PBI on December 3, 2020 at the request of the plaintiff. The PBI collects information from people at the scene and in the vicinity. At one point, the investigating officer of the case came to know that Pranab had given 15 thousand rupees in cash from the deceased and covered his body 3 days after the murder. That's when the PBI confirmed that Pranab was involved in the murder. After a long two and a half years, Pranab returned to Dumuria. Instead of going to the village house, Dumuria's family started renting a house in the village. Pranab was later arrested through various sources and using advanced technology. It may be mentioned that on July 3, 2019, the police recovered the body of a housewife named Saurabhi Mandal (40) from Balabunia area of ​​Shobhana Union of Dumuria Upazila with a towel wrapped around her neck. Police have arrested five people for questioning in the incident.
