Arrested with cannabis in anti-drug operation in Bogra

Sanju Roy, Bogra: The District Detective Branch (DB) arrested two persons along with 9 kg of cannabis buried under the ground in Char Khukshia village of Dhanut upazila in Bogra on Sunday noon. The two arrested are Abdul Jalil, 22, son of Jagat Jamal of the same village and Abu Bakkar, 40, son of late Korban Ali. DB police said in a press release sent to them that the operation was carried out in Dhunte Char Khukshia village on the basis of secret information. There, 2 kg of cannabis was recovered from the arrested Jalil and Bakk on a local road. Based on the information provided by them, another 6 kg of cannabis was recovered from a plastic drum buried under the ground inside a local chicken coop. Bogra District Intelligence Branch in-charge (inspector) Saihan Oliullah said the two arrested were professional drug dealers. There have been drug cases against them before. A case has been filed against the arrested persons under the existing Narcotics Act and sent to the court. He also said that the anti-drug drive in the district under the leadership of District Superintendent of Police Sudip Chakraborty would continue.
